Cladding, Windows & Doors – Park Homes Maintenance
As the leaves start to fall and temperatures drop, now is the time to start thinking about your autumn park home maintenance. Whether you own a static caravan, holiday lodge, or residential park home, preparing your property for the colder months ahead is vital.
Neglecting seasonal upkeep could lead to draughts, water ingress, higher energy bills, and even long-term structural damage. That’s why we’ve compiled this expert autumn checklist focusing on three critical areas — cladding, windows, and doors.
🍂 Why Autumn Maintenance Matters
Autumn is the perfect time for inspections and upgrades before frost, storms, and persistent rain arrive. Addressing issues now ensures:
-
A warmer, more energy-efficient home
-
Reduced winter heating costs
-
Better protection from damp, mould, and condensation
-
Prolonged lifespan of fixtures and materials
Primary keywords used: park home cladding, autumn park home maintenance, caravan windows and doors
🛠️ Your Autumn Maintenance Checklist
✅ 1. Inspect & Clean Windows and Doors
Your caravan windows and doors are your first defence against cold weather. Cracks, warping, broken seals, or failed double glazing panes can allow cold air and moisture to creep in.
Checklist:
-
Check for draughts around frames
-
Look for misting between double glazed panes
-
Ensure all locking mechanisms work
-
Clean and lubricate hinges and seals
-
Reseal or replace worn weather-stripping
If your park home still has old single glazing, upgrading to A-rated double glazed windows and doors will significantly improve insulation, reduce noise, and help cut down energy bills.
✅ 2. Check Cladding for Damage or Wear
Park home cladding protects your property from wind, rain, and moisture. Over time, panels can become loose, cracked, or discoloured — especially on older mobile homes.
Checklist:
-
Visually inspect all external walls for cracks or gaps
-
Check that trims and joints are sealed tightly
-
Remove moss, algae, and debris build-up
-
Wash the surface with a low-pressure hose or soft brush
-
Replace or upgrade damaged or outdated cladding
Modern UPVC cladding offers superior insulation, low maintenance, and comes in a range of colours to refresh your home’s exterior.
✅ 3. Test Insulation Around Openings
Poor insulation around windows and doors is one of the leading causes of heat loss in park homes and static caravans.
Checklist:
-
Use a thermal leak detector or your hand to feel for cold spots
-
Replace old foam or rubber insulation where needed
-
Refit or install new draft excluders under doors
-
Consider adding thermal curtains or blinds
